 This week's Athlete of the Week is John Paul Miller, a senior on the Grants High School Cross-Country Team. Miller has been a pillar of leadership and performance for the Pirates for the past four years and recently was the top performer at a recent meet for the Pirates.
Franklin Romero - CC 2 vs 2 ! Coudy Melonas, 2, of the GHS Pirates football team battles with Omar Loya, 2, from Dexter High School. The pass was ruled incomplete. The Pirates had a challenging game with the Demons and when the Friday night lights turned off, the Demons won the night with a 34-12 victory over the Pirates. Next up for the Pirates will be a road trip to Espanola Valley (3-0).

A challenging night for the Grants High School Pirates in their second home game of the season at the 3-A Dexter Demons rolled into town last Friday and in a penalty heavy game for both teams the Demons came out on top at the end of the night by a score of 34-12.

Grants High School Cross Country is ready to start off their season. They recently competed a meet at St. Pius High School, the meet consisted of two loops around the St. Pius campus.

Not a parking spot available at 'The Nest' this past Friday as popular rival Santa Fe Indian School. The Hawks did not disappoint the spirited home crowd as they ran away with the game by a 52-0 margin.The Hawks will host another home game this Thursday against Hatch Valley (2-1)

The Grants High School Pirates played their first road game last week at Milne Stadium in Albuquerque and it was a tough game for the Pirates as the St. Pius Sartans, a formal district rival, defeated the Pirates by a score of 40-7.

Grants High School Boys’ Soccer Head Coach John Malcolm celebrated his first win last week as the head coach of the GHS boys’ soccer team. Boys’ soccer defeated I-40 rival the Gallup Bengals 8-1.“This was a good win for us---we learned some good points,” said Malcolm.
