New Mexico United is devastated to share the news that all-time leading goal scorer Chris Wehan has reinjured his knee, bringing his time with United to a close. Wehan initially injured his knee during the 2023 season and had been working diligently on making a comeback.

There was one, then two, three and finally four. Pirate grapplers are sending off four to the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) state wrestling tournament after earning their way last weekend at the Region 1 championships. GHS placed ninth out of 19 schools with 74 points.

March Madness is literally around the corner as area basketball teams wrap up district play. The Grants High School boys’ basketball team is currently 15-10, 34 and in third place in their district just behind St. Pius (14-9,6-1) and Highland at 19-5, 6-0.

The Pirates boys’ basketball team are on a 2game winning streak after defeating the Belen Eagles (8-14,1-4) by a score of 81-62 on February 2nd then defeating the Valencia Jaguars (11-12, 0-5) on their following game on February 9th by a score of 60-50.

Girls wrestling regionals were held last weekend at Capital High School in Santa Fe. Three Grants High School wrestlers placed 6th in their weight class and are headed to the state wrestling tournament and a 4th wrestler, Jaylene Morin, a junior, wrestling at 152-pounds. earned a wild card entry.
