Some people enjoy music and some people don’t. I can say for certain that I am among those who do. Music has had a strong presence in my life for a very long time. I grew up in a church with a big worship band, that of which included both of my parents. My mom is a singer and my dad is a guitar player. The band got smaller as the years went by, but I eventually joined in as a singer with my mom, making it a family affair!

Dear Editor: This past Saturday we had a Cibola County Cleanup in the beautiful Land Grant community of Seboyeta. There was a great turnout, and I am especially grateful for Kilino Marquez and Debbie Lopez that are on the Land Grant Board.

In just a year, from July 11, the compensation program created under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) will come to an end. We need our elected representatives in Congress to extend and expand that program to help all of those in our state who have been affected by radiation.

Animals left to die behind Walmart. Last week we told you about two beautiful dogs left to starve and die from lack of food and water behind Walmart.

There is a band that I listened to when I was younger called Superchick. I know the name sounds a little funny, but it was actually a great band with really insightful lyrics. If I’m being honest, there were really only two specific songs that I listened to on repeat, but their other songs were good too. One of these songs just really connected with me, and I find myself still listening to it years later and reflecting on its meaning, especially lately.

How could they? How could they sneak like thieves in the night and dump two beautiful dogs behind Walmart to starve and possibly die? No food, no water, no protection from the elements. Grants has a beautiful animal shelter where they could have left them, but no.
